Hacienda CDC, a trusted community development corporation dedicated to empowering individuals and families through affordable housing, holistic services, and advocacy, is searching for a new Grant Writer with a strong work ethic and exceptional storytelling skills to advance the organization’s mission of supporting our community's needs.
When you join the Philanthropy Department at Hacienda CDC, you join a team that takes pride in knowing its work helps the organization succeed and pushes the mission of Hacienda CDC forward. Your primary tasks will include collaborating cross-departmentally to understand the various funding needs of the organization, researching, identifying, evaluating grant opportunities, writing and submitting successful grant applications, and more.
The ideal candidate will already have a proven track record of writing successful grant applications. They will possess strong proofreading skills, pay close attention to detail, and be able to take initiative, prioritize, and meet deadlines. They will thrive in community-driven environments and have a deep appreciation and respect for the diverse communities Hacienda serves.

- Collaborate with Program Directors and Executive Leadership to understand the funding needs across the organization.
- Research, identify, evaluate, and plan grant opportunities that advance Hacienda’s missions and programs and meet identified funding needs.
- Submit successful grant applications, including supporting with strategy sessions, creating a timeline for submissions, and writing and finalizing narrative content.
- Create monthly reports on grant funding progress, including applications submitted, their outcomes, and progress towards annual fundraising goals.
- Stay current on grant regulations, guidelines, and trends.
- Relationship building and stewarding with funders and potential funders.
- Track and communicate grant reporting deadlines to the Grants, Contract & Data Manager.
- Use Salesforce to track grant deadlines, submission, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate and updated funder profiles and create funder and donor recognition and year-end donor tax letters.
Our ideal candidate must have:
- A minimum of two years of experience writing grants individually.
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or similar fields.
- Prior experience or knowledge working in a non-profit setting.
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities, and able to convey Hacienda’s mission with heart and impact.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- The ability to produce work with correct grammar and structure.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a high degree of emotional intelligence.
- The ability to be responsive and team-oriented, who follows up and follows through.
- The ability to be flexible and adapt to change within a growing entrepreneurial work environment.
- Critical thinking, analytical, problem-prevention, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of various fundraising strategies.
- A driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
- A Grant Writing certification
- Prior experience using Salesforce or similar CRM software.
- The ability to speak, read, write, and understand Spanish.

The salary and wage range Hacienda advertises for the position means that the starting pay offered to the candidate will fall within the range posted.
